Dirty ductwork can cause the furnace and air conditioning systems to work less efficiently, therefore costing more money to operate and possibly shorten their lifespan. It can also contribute to and cause health issues by releasing dust, mold and bacteria into the air. Likewise, dryer vent cleaning is also often overlooked and can pose a potential fire hazard if not cleaned regularly.

But since ductwork is not visible, people tend not to pay attention to them until there is an issue. Also, with summer air conditioning and winter heating, houses are closed up tighter than usual causing dirty air to recycle within the home.
